Providence is a vibrant community dedicated to fostering the success of our diverse learners. We cultivate a collaborative learning environment where students' unique perspectives enrich the educational experience.

City of Fairfax School

PES is an FCPS school that happens to be in the City of Fairfax. Our unique facility is owned by the City, and we are the beneficiary of extra resources because of our relationship with it.  We receive extra support for various things like technology, teacher training opportunities, and instructional resources as well as strong partnerships with our City of Fairfax partner schools.

AVID Elementary

Providence is one of three elementary schools in FCPS with an AVID Elementary program.  Through this program we prioritize college and career readiness for all students by offering Advancement VIA Individual Determination (AVID). We embedded AVID practices into our daily routines and instructional delivery in all grade-levels.
 

  Afterschool Programs

Providence’s afterschool program hosts a variety of clubs and activities including; Science Olympiad, Math Olympiad, Lego League, Show Choir, drama/theater, volleyball,  Providence Pounderz bucket drumming group
 

STEAM Lab

Providence is home of the award-winning, homegrown engineering-themed STEAM Lab program.  21st-century skills is not a buzzword at PES.  We explicitly teach innovator skills to all students through this great program! 
 

Virginia Naturally School and Green Flag Awards

Providence has earned the Virginia Naturally Award for three years in a row and the Echo School US Green Flag Award each year since 2019. We infuse a culture of student-led environmental stewardship throughout the school and are very proud of our student led EcoPanther team and our Green Team which has presented at the Student Environmental Action Showcase for the past two years.
 

Community Partners

Providence partners with Expectation Church, Western Fairfax Church Ministries to help provide food for families in need on the weekends. Additionally, Our continued collaboration we partner with  Britepaths to provide gift cards to families to help emergency basic needs for students and their families as well as gifts for the November and December holidays for our Providence.
 

Mentor Program

Providence has a long standing and exemplar Mentor Program that involves community partners, staff members, as well as peer mentors. This award winning program helps provide dozens of students each year with the opportunity to develop  a supportive relationship with a trusted mentor. 
 

Courtyard

Providence boasts a vibrant and verdant courtyard that serves as an outdoor classroom for all students. Grade levels participate in annual planting and harvesting connected to their science units, along with all sorts of fun exploration and discovery.
 

Family Engagement

Providence hosts multiple events to welcome and engage students and families to Providence including:  Math Night, STEAM Night, Community Connection, Providence Book Festival along with parenting education classes in partnership with Edu-Futuro.
 

Local full time services AAP

Providence offers a local Full-Time Advanced Academic Program (AAP) that is designed to meet the needs of advanced learners. The Full-Time AAP environment allows students to explore and express their ideas with other highly able peers.
